Circe

Circe's Story

In Greek legend, Circe was the daughter of Helios and a powerful sorcerous. She first appeared as the witch in Odysseus’s story, turning his sailors into pigs, but in her own story, she was half-goddess, half-nymph, and all woman. She would have had to face more inequality and judgment than most - no wonder she went to live alone on a private island. It might have taken a millennium to get past a patriarchy-fuelled sense of worthlessness, but once she did, Circe became a queen of transformation.
